A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Our New Multi-Camera PTZ Setup
Discover how CinemaViva uses Sony PTZ cameras with an ATEM Mini Extreme to deliver seamless multi-camera coverage for events, training, and conferences in San Diego and Los Angeles.
A Smarter Way to Cover Events with PTZ Cameras
Hi, I’m Horacio from CinemaViva. We recently added a three-camera Sony PTZ system to our San Diego studio and live event kit, and I wanted to give you a behind-the-scenes tour of how it works.
Unlike bulky tripod setups, PTZ cameras let us capture dynamic multi-angle coverage with a very small footprint. That means your event stays distraction-free, while we still deliver professional-quality video.
What’s in the Setup
In this video demo, I walk through how we configure and operate the system:
- Three Sony SRG-300SE PTZ cameras capture wide shots, close-ups, and medium framing.
- An ATEM Mini Extreme ISO switcher records all three cameras simultaneously while keeping them synced with timecode.
- A dedicated PTZ controller allows one operator to smoothly pan, tilt, zoom, and switch between camera presets.
This setup makes it possible for one skilled operator to handle what would normally take a three-person crew.
Why This Matters for Event Planners & Speakers
If you’re planning a conference, training session, or panel discussion, this system is designed to:
- Capture all the action with minimal staff and equipment in the room.
- Deliver polished multi-camera edits without blocking aisles or cluttering the stage.
- Offer live streaming or on-demand video with professional sound and visuals.
It’s a flexible solution that scales from small workshops to large conferences.
Real-World Applications
We’ve already started using this PTZ setup for:
- Corporate keynotes and trainings – giving remote teams the same experience as being in the room.
- Panel discussions – cleanly switching between speakers without missing reactions.
- Medical and technical training – capturing detailed demonstrations from multiple angles.

If you’re an event planner, speaker, or marketing team looking to simplify your video coverage, this PTZ system is available in San Diego and Los Angeles.
